Mt. Tam

Saturday was extra wonderful for two reasons; 1) I took J to Meal Ticket for the buckwheat pancakes and he loved them, 2) we actually had friends hike with us. Honestly, J and I had never done this hike and we were a little unsure of the route, but that's one joy of hiking and getting mentally caught up in the adventure. The Dicous graced us with their presence on our journey and I loved having them around - sometimes I think Meg and I are twins. Anyway, we started at Lake Lagunitas, went around two other lakes, between redwood trees, passed Cataract Falls, through meadows, and down the fire trail back to the car. Altogether it was about 5.5 miles. It was beautiful and I hope Meg and Taylor are still our friends despite the lengthy trail and slight soreness that followed. Hey, at least we celebrated our triumph with Sol Food - mmm, limeade!

Look how happy they are at the beginning.

Cataract Falls

Like I said, beautiful. And now, for our posterity...(totally caught Meg and Taylor)...

Oh Happy Day - March

I'm bringing goals to a halt for March. It seems that I'm actually really busy and fitting kooky goals into the mix is making life a bit crazy. However, J and I are planning to make marmalade for March, jar tomato sauce for future use, and to celebrate pi(e) day - March 14. We really want to solidify some traditions for our future kids.

Remembering 14

When I was about 11 my dad set up my first email account and I was really excited. It was my first introduction to things like Yahoo!, chat rooms, pranking in chat rooms, and much more. Then I turned 14 and and I signed up for Hotmail (it was all the rage). Since then I have graduated to gmail - a career counselor at BYU told me my rubyred@hotmail.com address was unprofessional and strongly encouraged a change if I wanted a job, note taken. Recently, I was notified that my hotmail account was hacked and since I forgot all about that address I decided today was the day to close the account. I rummaged around my account a bit and found a piece of my adolescence that is almost shameful to share, but I also thought it was funny and J wished he had something from his youth like this. Under my hotmail profile it read:

Gender: Female
Occupation: School
More about you: Im always on the phone or the computer.I love to eat.I hate when people use big words, they cant impress me with their vocablulary.I dont do very good when it comes to school,I just like to see my friends. Who cares what my favorite quote is?!?!
Interests: I dunnno but basicly anything But, Jazz, classical, bluegrass any of that crap I hate. Some of my favorite artists are:Usher, Avril Lavigne, the all american rejects, Third eyed Blind, Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey and Blink 182. I love to swim and the outdoors.Sometimes I play sports but usally only basketball.Oh yeah and I love to shop.

I realize that I should have used well instead of good and I also understand that I sound like a brat, but I was 14 (so sue me). I would like to say the Third Eye Blind is still an awesome band and I'll always remember when I was 14 and saw them in Tahoe with my sister. I would also like to say that I'm thankful for time and that I don't sound like this anymore. It's now been a full decade since I created the hotmail account and I can't believe that I ended up where I did - bless the day.

Photo: I think this was about 14. Those sun glasses are hideous and I look like an alien. Ugh, please someone tell me I look better now at 24.
